The NSS Units of Dev Samaj College of Education observed Sadbhavna Divas and Akshay Urja Divas to commemorate the 66th birth anniversary of late Indian Prime Minister Sh. Rajiv Gandhi. The programme began with the presentation on the theme ‘Unity in Diversity’. Dr. Jyoti Khanna, Principal of the institute, while highlighting the importance and theme of the day, told the volunteers that this day is celebrated as a day of goodwill towards everyone and eschewing violence. She emphasized that sources of conventional energy are minimal. Non- conventional energy needs to be promoted to meet the future energy demands and to give quality and pollution free supply to the growing need for energy.

To mark the occasion, Poster Making, Slogan Writing, Poetry Writing, T Shirt Painting and Essay Writing Competitions were held on the theme of Communal Harmony. Students presented inspirational speeches and poems on the theme. T Shirts and caps were distributed among the prospective teachers to create awareness about the use of non conventional energy and energy conservation.
On this occasion, Dr. Anita Nangia, NSS programme officer administered the pledge to the students and faculty members that states, ‘I take this solemn pledge that I will work for the emotional oneness and harmony of all the people of India regardless of cast, region, religion or language. I further pledge that I shall resolve all differences among us through dialogue and constitutional means without resorting to violence’
The programme ended with the prize distribution for the various competitions held on the occasion.
