
TODAY, as part of an ongoing ‘Campaign for Peace-cities’, Yuvsatta, Peace Club of Dev Samaj College of Education & Education Department, Chandigarh Administration, organized a two day ‘Peace Educators Training Programme’ for around 100 teachers from almost all prominent Schools of the tricity i.e. Chandgarh, Panchkula & Mohali. Mr. Justice Permod Kohli, Judge, Punjab & Haryana High Court was the Chief guest on the occasion.

Welcoming the initiative Justice Permod Kohli said that the saddest part of today’s life-style is that present state of violence, disorder and confusion in the society is affecting the children’s innocent minds. Appreciating the efforts he said that Peace Clubs can inculcate the core human values essential for peaceful and healthy living. Student’s involvement in such programmes will certainly creates positive relationships and helps them to experience the joy of serving others and living in harmony with man and nature
Dr. Hushang Garmroud & Prof. Anil Sarwal, both Peace educators introduced teachers to Virtue’s Project inculcating good habit among young ones. Another resource person Stanzin Dawa, Programme Manager with Commonwealth Youth Asia Centre laid stress on easily adoptable Peace & Conflict Resolution techniques. Senior freelance journalist Vandana Shukla shared with teachers that today the world is multi-cultural, multi-religious and multi-ethnic and so no country can be monocultural, mono-religious and mono-ethnic. And thus equal respect for all religions, cultures, languages, races, ethnic groups can only ensure a society of permanence.

Giving information about the concept of Peace Clubs Parmod Sharma, Coordinator Yuvsatta & founder of Peace Clubs in this region said that presently there are around 130 active & vibrant Peace Clubs in almost all important Schools & Colleges of Chandigarh, Panchkula & Mohali and through such trainings of trainers they focus on education of the peace volunteers on the positive aspect of nonviolence through constructive activities, discussions, interactions and effective dialogue.
