Human Rights Day was observed in Dev Samaj College of Education, Sector 36 B, Chandigarh on 10th December, 2009 to mark the importance of human rights and thus respecting the feelings, goals, emotions and desires of others.

The programme started with the college prayer which itself conveyed the message of Human Rights and Duties. Principal, Dr. Jyoti Khanna welcomed the Chief Guest Shrimati Gianwati Ji, Counselor, Dev Samaj, who is an eminent social worker in Bathinda.

Dr. Anuradha Agnihotri briefed the audience with the meaning and importance of Human Rights.

To mark the day, a panel discussion on the topic ‘Importance of Human Rights’ was organized.The Panelist Deepti talked on ‘Human Rights Protection’,Preeti on ‘Women Empowerment’, Stancy Jain on’Child Labour’ and Vandana on ‘State of Human Rights’ and Deepti on ‘Consumer Rights’ in which the members of the panel expressed their views on protection of Human Rights and Dr.Neeru Malik added to the Discussion ‘Rights of the Disabled’. The discussion was followed by an interactive session in which the students and the faculty actively participated.The programme concluded with tokens of appreciation given to the participants.
