Prospective Teachers Celebrated NSS Day

NSS Day was celebrated at Dev Samaj College of Education, Sector 36 B, Chandigarh. To mark the day, community work in different centres – Institute for the Blind, Mother Teresa Missionaries of Charity, SPCA, Savera, Blood Bank Society (P.G.I.) and Sikhya School for Slum Children where NSS volunteers will render their services throughout the year.
The function commenced with the College Prayer “Mubarak Hai Janam Unka” followed by the views on the History and Importance of NSS by the NSS volunteers. NSS volunteers presented inspirational poems, patriotic song ‘Uthe samaj ke liye’ and a dance performance. The Principal welcomed the Honorable Chief Guests Dr.Saudamini Bambah and Dr. Manmohan Kaur, Senior Social Workers associated with Blood Bank Society, PGI and Rotary Blood Bank Society Resource Centre, Sector 37, Chandigarh.

In their speech, they clarified the misconceptions and myths regarding Blood Donation and stressed upon ‘Safe Blood Donation’. Mrs. Bambah has been an active volunteer for the cause of blood donation .
In her vote of thanks, Principal, Dr. Jyoti Khanna, thanked the Chief Guests, the faculty and the program organizers Dr. Anita Nangia and Dr. Seema Sareen for making the program a success. She also motivated the students for their contribution to this noble cause.
