Observation of Sadbhavna Divas and Akshay Urja Divas

The NSS Units of Dev Samaj College of Education observed Sadbhavna Divas and Akshay Urja Divas in collaboration with Department of Science and Technology, U.T. Chandigarh, to commemorate the 65th birth anniversary of late Indian Prime Minister Sh.Rajiv Gandhi. The programme began with NSS volunteers and staff taking the pledge that they would work for emotional oneness and harmony of the people of India regardless of caste, creed, religion or language and resolve all the differences through dialogue and constitutional means without resorting to violence.

Urja Divas was also celebrated to mark the day. T Shirts and caps were distributed among the prospective teachers to create awareness about the use of non conventional energy and energy conservation.

Dr. Jyoti Khanna,Principal of the institute, while highlighting the importance and theme of the day, told the volunteers that this day is celebrated as a day of goodwill towards everyone and eschewing violence. She emphasized that sources of conventional energy are minimal. Non- conventional energy needs to be promoted to meet the future energy demands and to give quality and pollution free supply to the growing need for energy.

Sadbhavna-Divas1To mark the occasion, Poster Making, Slogan Writing and Quiz Competitions were held on the theme of Communal Harmony. Students presented inspirational speeches and poems on the theme. Dr.Anita Nangia, the Programme Officer highlighted the activities undertaken by NSS volunteers in the last session and also presented the proposed plan for the new session. She thanked the Principal, the Faculty members and the students for making the programme a success.
